Day 5, Part 2

I walked up the escalators to the upper level. I figured the young West is being held in one of the side offices in the Mresti station. And sure enough, there is a terminal and a locked door.  If Vance and crew knew I am there, they did not react. I entered the password I got from Karl into the terminal, and the door unlatched. And indeed, inside was a young man, lounging on the bed, slightly scruffy looking young man. Probably not much older than myself, but I am no longer sure how old I am. The young man sat up, his expression glum.  "Who are you, and what do you want?" "I'm Roger Wilco. You are Ian West, I presume?" "Yes." "Evan King sent me to look for you. You're one tough kid to find." "Yeah, I guess I should have known this would happen. He's gonna send someone after me sooner or later. " "Did you... always had that hunger?" "No... I was about 10. Some wastelander was going to steal our ...

Day 5, part 1

I woke up with best sleep that I can recall. While the bed is kinda lumpy, it's mine, and the door even locks. And I'm sure Wadsworth the handy bot has a few tricks against intruders. Dogmeat was up and I put some water in a dish and we shared some food from the stash in the fridge, which even comes stocked with a few bits of food. We'll need more, but we salvage plenty. Any way... Need to find the kid, and the Family seems to be the only clue. And Murphy said they've been seen at Mresti train yards. I dropped off any extra loot in the locker, told Wadsworth to guard, and left with Dogmeat. Mresti Trainyards turns out to be directly east from Hamtilton's Hideout, and almost directly due north from Springvale school.  We had to kill a couple more raiders when we walked by Kaelyn's. It was almost noon when we arrived at Mresti train yard. The fences enclosed areas with old railroad cars. The only thing interesting is the two rail tunnels. I took the door...

Day 4, part 2

I am glad to see the sun after walking out of Vault 106. It had been a depressing visit, as I had to kill many crazed survivors. I am glad I am finally out of there. I saw a building to the north, two stories. May have been a Bed and Breakfast once. I decided to check it out. Before I even got close, I got fired at. Raiders! I returned dove behind some rocks and took cover. There seems to be only two or three firing, but I know there would be more raiders approaching with melee weapons. I decided to wait for them, but it seems Dogmeat has other ideas. Before I can call him back, he's off. I jumped up after him, guns already seeking target, as the raiders and their own dog concentrated on Dogmeat. Time started to slow as adrenaline kicked in along with VATS targeting.  One guy has a flamer. He had to go first. Two bursts for him, then a third burst for the guy with the assault rifle. Rat-tat-tat, rat-tat-tat. The flamer guy's head busted into pieces, and he collapsed. His bu...

Day 3 Part 3

After clearing Minefield, and nabbing a few frag mines, and regrettably taking out Arkansas too, Dogmeat and I walked back to Megaton. We didn't see much along the way. It was late afternoon when we finally got back. Even Dogmeat is started to look tired. We shared a little water, then I headed up to Moira's. "Awww! Cute doggie!" Moira greeted Dogmeat with a fur ruffling. Dogmeat barked in pleasure. Moira then turned to me, "I have just the thing! Hold on..."  She ran into the back, and came out with two items, and I was surprised.  First item is a leather armor... But for a dog!  I am quite impressed, and I said so. And the second item is an item pack... But again, for a dog. yes, now Dogmeat can share some of my load.  Impressive!  I paid Moira in caps, and the prices are quite reasonable.  I traded her the rest of the items I don't need, stuff like raider armor and so on, plus weak weapons like .223 pistol, as well as surplus food and so on. I don...
